Safe
Homes Program |
|
Dear Commack Community - We have often heard the phrase “it takes a village to raise a child.” This simple phrase recognizes that we all have a tremendous responsibility in caring for and looking out for our own children and the children of our community. This is even more important on those occasions when we host other children in our homes. The Safe Homes Program is designed to ensure that the young people of this community will be “safe” when we have them in our homes. As parents, we pledge that we will maintain our responsibility to monitor and watch our children and the friends that they invite into our home. We need to send a strong message that as parents, we can set clear guidelines and expectations for behavior, while still allowing our kids to enjoy their time with friends. Despite the popular notion that young people need to drink or engage in other illegal activities to have fun, it is possible for them to have a party or gather without this type of activity. The Commack Coalition of Caring is dedicated to fostering a partnership between parents and the school to enhance critical parenting skills, as well as provide vital information and resources to help battle substance use and abuse in our community. Thank you for your continued support and involvement in these efforts. Together, we can form that “village” to make a difference. Sincerely, |
