(represented) presented plaques and certificates to the Commack
Kickline, 2007 NDA National Kickline Champions.
Commack School
Supt. Dr. James Feltman and Asst. Supt. Laura A. Newman
presented an overview of the proposed budget.
The Board of
Education was presented with a quilt designed by students and
staff of the Wood Park Primary School as part of their
Future Corps project.
The Board
recognized three students for their outstanding accomplishments
as National Merit Finalist, National Merit Winner, and
Presidential Scholars Program Candidate.
The Board
recognized art students for their participation in the Smithtown
Township Arts Council - Mills Pond House Gallery Youth Art
Showcase.
The Board
recognized a music student for her participation in the SCMEA
All-County percussion Ensemble.
The Town of
Smithtown Anti-Bias Task Force presented the BOE with an award
for the Commack School District and designated the District as a
Bias-Free School Zone.
Budget News!
The Board adopted the 2008-2009 proposed
school Budget - with a budget increase of 6.57%, and a tax levy
increase of 2.21%.
An overview of
the District's Wellness Program was presented by Mr. Thode and
Mrs. Studley, and the New York State Healthy Stars Gold Award
was presented to the Board.
At the March BOE Meeting
The Art
Department presented the art curriculum in
grades Kindergarten through 12.
Presenters: Paul R. Infante, Rob Raeihle, Elizabeth Onesto,
Barbara Palmadesso, and Grace Barrett.
The Board of
Education recognized a Commack High School student for her
outstanding achievement as All State in Soccer.
The Board of
Education recognized a Commack High School student for her
outstanding achievement as All State in Gymnastics.
A presentation
on the status of the Middle Years Program was given by Principal
Pam Travis Moore.
At the January BOE Meeting
A high school
string quartet played for the Board of Education and audience
before the start of the meeting.
The Board of
Education recognized the N.Y.S.C.A.M.E./S.C.M.E.A. All-County
participants.
The Board of
Education recognized the N.Y.S.S.M.A. All-State participants.
The Music
Department presented a plaque to the Board of Education in
thanks for their support of the the music program.
The Board of
Education recognized student journalists from the high school
newspaper, The Courant, for being honored by the Empire
State Scholastic Press Association. Courant teacher
advisor was also named best in state.
Dr. Adrienne
Robb-Fund gave an administrative report on the English Language
Arts Program in grades K-6.

Education recognized a Commack High School student for her
outstanding achievement as a National Merit Semi-Finalist.
The Board of
Education recognized a Commack High School student for his
outstanding achievements as a National Merit Semi-Finalist and a
National AP Scholar.
The Board of
Education to recognize six students from Burr Intermediate
School for having been selected for entry into the prestigious
Brookhaven Lab Science Fair.
The Board of
Education acknowledged fifteen teachers from Burr Intermediate
School for receiving “Spotlight” recognition from the Suffolk
Reading Council.
Burr Principal
Charles Heppeler recognized teacher Robert Minott for his
service to the students and staff of Commack during his recent
expedition to Nova Scotia through Earthwatch.
Paul Infante and
David Weiss gave an administrative report on the School Business
Partnership initiative.
Members of the
School Business Partnership spoke about the advantages of giving
students a glimpse into the career opportunities awaiting them
after graduation, and the value of the partnership for both
businessmen/women and the schools.
At the October BOE Meeting
Board of Ed Recognition Night
The Board of
Education presented commemorative photos of the June 2007 high
school graduation ceremony and Friday Night Lights parachute
jump to Principal Russell Stewart.
The Commack
Educational Foundation presented a check for $10,000 to the
school district to provide an interactive mnemonic white board
to each primary school, and one to an integrated class at
Sawmill.
The Board of
Education was recognized by the primary school principals,
representing their schools, with a framed poem and sentiments
from the students.
Burr
Intermediate School prepared a wonderful video about their
school that highlighted all the programs and activities made
possible by the foresight and planning of the Board.
Mandracchia
Sawmill Student Council members read "mail' and sang a song to
the Board that commended them for creating an academic
environment conducive to both learning and social development.
Commack Middle
School students sang and presented the Board with a hand-painted
and designed delightful bench in thanks for all they do to
support and educate the students of Commack.
The high school
National Art Honor Society presented the Board with a painting
of the Commack Logo for the Board room in appreciation for their
support of the art program.
The Athletic
Department presented the Board with a plaque and football, as
well as Commack Cougar shirts.
The Department
of Fine and Applied Arts presented the Board with sweatshirts
from the Marching Band.
The PTA Council
President thanked the Board for supporting our students and
providing them with the tools they need to succeed. PTA Council
provided the refreshments at the meeting.
At the September BOE Meeting
The Board of
Education recognized students from Burr Intermediate School who
achieved both perfect scores and took first place in the nation
in the Continental Math League.
The Board of
Education recognized Mandracchia Sawmill Intermediate School
students for their accomplishments as high scorers in the
Continental Math League.
The Board of
Education recognized last year's third, fourth, and fifth grade Mandracchia Sawmill Intermediate School
students for their outstanding accomplishments in the National
Science League. Each team scored first in the nation.
