President's Message

Back To PTA Homepage

September 2008

Welcome back to school.  As I write this, I can’t believe that the summer is almost over and we are about to begin a new school year.  I am very excited to be part of this year of  “change,” to quote a current campaign.  I am starting my first year as North Ridge PTA President with a great executive committee to support me.  And we also begin the school year with our new Principal, Mrs. Rihm, who we welcome. We look forward to getting to know and working closely with her to make the North Ridge experience one that your child will remember throughout his/her life.

Our executive committee is already hard at work and looking forward to an exciting year.  We have Angela Cicalo- First VP, Rebecca Ben-Ezra- Second VP, Maria Yandolino- Treasurer, Janet Husted- Recording Secretary, Colleen Irwin- Correspondence Secretary, Abby Tilkin and Marie Pirolo- Council Reps, and Gulia Noto and Julie Hueber- School Board Reps.  They are joined by a group of dedicated PTA Members.

Our membership drive is underway and we encourage your family to join the PTA.  Membership goes directly toward all the incredible programs that we offer to your children throughout the year.   There are many programs to look forward to.  Our Arts in Education Committee is working to bring the school exciting and educational shows as well as visiting authors and artists.  The fall season will bring the start of our Partners in Reading (PIR) program, as well as the Halloween Parade, the Ronald McDonald Walk-A-Thon, and our Evening Book Fair.  We also offer Fun Fair, Field Day, Military Bridge, and a Wee Deliver postal system for the school. We also support great family events including, NRINGO (North Ridge’s form of Bingo), Family Bowling, and a Ducks game.  All of these programs, and more, would not be possible without the support and help from you the parents.  So please take a minute to join North Ridge PTA.

Our first PTA meeting will be held on September 22 at 7:30pm.  We alternate between daytime and evening meetings in hopes to accommodate everyone.  We hope that you will join us.  These meetings provide valuable information for upcoming events, insight into what is happening at school, and an opportunity to volunteer and become involved.  I look forward to seeing familiar faces as well as meeting those of you who are new to the school.  I am always available to answer any questions or concerns you have.  Please do not hesitate to call or email.  Again, welcome to North Ridge.
