The students at North Ridge
are participating in an exciting educational program called Wee Deliver.
Wee Deliver is an in-school postal service promote and inspire the reading
and writing skills of students. The program is sponsored by The United
States Postal Service, and North Ridge is one of the many participating
schools. Parents, students and staff are encouraged to write letters to
others throughout the school in order for Wee Deliver to be successful.
Each classroom has been assigned a mailbox with a street address, and each hallway has a designated, posted street name. Directories listing both teachers' and students' addresses have been distributed to all classrooms in the school. They are also available on this webpage. Click the "Wee Deliver Postal Directory" link below. Every Tuesday, during the recreation period, the members of one second grade class work at their respective postal jobs in their classroom with the help of parent volunteers. Mail is sorted, checked for proper form and delivered throughout the school. See the class schedule below. The Wee Deliver program promotes literacy and helps our second graders develop awareness of job responsibilities. In addition, it fosters teamwork and creates school-wide communication at North Ridge. |
