Meeting called to order at 8:05 a.m. by chairperson Kathy Huergo. Minutes were read and accepted.
Welcomed Ellen Brett and Jeff Trebour to the SBM committee
OLD BUSINESS
Shana Kay Memorial Markers are fading. Contacted manufacturer. They will be send new markers. Would like to add additional markers around the perimeter of the field. Community Sunshine No news Supply Packaging Concerns: Time taken away in classroom to label items. Quality of items. Cost Sub committee formed to review procedures. Nicole Ryback, Pat Ammirato, Jeff Trebour, B. Hand, P. Mancuso Traffic Traffic safety still an issue – pulling into handicap parking spot to let off students, turning into oncoming traffic instead of following arrows around parking lot. Will continue to pursue “No Parking Here to Driveway” signs with the Town of Huntington
NEW BUSINESS 2008-09 Goals Subcommittee formed to review goals – Ellen Brett, Carol Tierney, Kathy Huergo Agenda Survey Subcommittee formed to survey teachers – Diana Bishop, Leslie Cronin, Pat Ammirato. Student Dismissal New procedures: Van students and walkers will be dismissed from back lobby If students are taken out of the building they must sign student out.
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Excel Grant Vote Excel Grant vote scheduled for October 16th. Enrollment Started school year off with 1037 students. Staffing Will have additional help for orchestra/band teachers in September.
Curriculum New grade 3 math series in place. Parent workshop on new math series will take place soon. New math series for Grs. 4 & 5 is scheduled for next year.
Miscellaneous ELA/Math workshops will be starting in early October Budget committee has started it work on the 2009-2010 school budget New padding has been installed in gym. Roof – hopefully final approval will come from Albany. Work to begin next summer. Agenda planner needs revision. PTA has arranged many exciting programs for students.
Meeting was adjourned at 9am. Next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14, 2008.
