The Commack Union Free School District hereby advises students, parents, employees and the general public that it offers employment and educational opportunities, including vocational education opportunities without regard to sex, race, color, national origin or handicap. TITLE IX
The Commack School District, P.O. Box 150, Commack, New York, 11725, does not discriminate on the basis of sex in educational programs or activities which it operates, and it is required by Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972 not to discriminate in such a manner. This policy on non-discrimination includes the following areas: recruitment and appointment of employees; employment pay and benefits; counseling services for students; access by students to educational programs; course offerings and student activities. The Commack School District will comply with all regulations and requirements of Title IX.
SMOKE-FREE SCHOOL POLICY
Under a policy implemented by the Board of Education, and in accordance with NYS law, smoking by students and staff is prohibited in all Commack School District buildings and facilities. This policy reflects the Board's concern following published studies that secondary smoke has adverse effects on non-smokers as well as smokers. The smoke-free schools policy is in keeping with the district's commitment to educate its students to the dangers of substance abuse, including alcohol and smoking, and the hope that such a policy will set an example for all students and staff.

COMMACK COURIER

District news is published approximately ten times during the school year in the Commack Courier. It is also distributed as widely as possible through local newspapers.
The Commack Courier is mailed to all district residents, and is also posted on the Commack Website http://www.commack.k12.ny.us under Community News. If you know someone who is not receiving it, please let us know by calling 912-2010.

DIRECTORY INFORMATION PUBLIC NOTICE

Unless objection to any of the following items of information is submitted in writing by parents or legal guardians, or by those students themselves who are over the age of 18 years, the Commack School District hereby gives notice of its intention to provide the release to parent/teacher associations and representatives of the district's insurance carriers, entitles providing educational, occupational or career opportunities, or to publish in the Commack Courier, school student newspapers, magazines, yearbooks, or other publications, daily or weekly newspapers, athletic programs, musical or theatrical programs, news releases, any and/or all of the following information pertaining to students as may be appropriate under the circumstances: name of student, address, age, height, weight, grade, major field of study, participation in recognized school activities, extracurricular activities and sports programs, academic honors, achievements, awards, scholarships and similar information.

Pursuant to federal law, the District is required to provide military recruiters, upon request, with three directory information categories: name, address, and telephone listing, unless parents have advised the District that they do not want their student’s information disclosed without their prior written consent.

Parents, guardians or students over 18 years of age who object to the release of directory information should give written notice to the Superintendent of Schools within 30 days hence. Failure to give written notice shall be deemed consent.

The Commack website is located at http://www.commack.k12.ny.us and contains many resources for our Commack residents. All the information contained in this calendar is on the website. The Commack School District assumes parents agree to permit student’s access to the Internet and also assumes parents agree to permit student’s work/photos to be posted on the District website unless the parent sends a letter or email (ashideler@commack.k12.ny.us) to Director of Technology, Hubbs Administration Center, P.O. Box 150, Commack, NY 11725. The office will confirm receipt of your email or letter.
