On Tuesday, October 25 during the school day all CHS students will be
experiencing
- America’s
Premiere School Assembly Experience
-
TEEN TRUTH LIVE: DRUGS & ALCOHOL is an interactive, multi-media
experience that incorporates a motivational presentation with a
22-minute film that was created with the help of students. The
multi-award winning film, TEEN TRUTH: DRUGS & ALCOHOL, focuses on the
social issues that can lead teenagers to use drugs and alcohol and the
serious consequences teenagers may face when using illicit substances.
Using storytelling, humor, real world examples and audience
participation, the speaker educates students about the dangerous
consequences of drugs and alcohol, motivates the students to think
before using, and empowers them to take an active role in preventing
drug and alcohol use from occurring in their community.
ALL PARENTS ARE INVITED TO ATTEND A
PARENT PRESENTATION THAT WILL BUILD UPON WHAT YOUR CHILD EXPERIENCES
DURING THE SCHOOL DAY.

Welcome back to another school year. We will have lots of info to share with
you as the year progresses. Be sure to sign up to receive CHS PTA emails.

Our CHS PTA
Membership Drive: Membership is $8/member. Please consider joining.
(Thank you to the CHS staff for their 100+% membership these past years. We
truly appreciate all their support.) If you would like, when you join,
consider making a voluntary donation to our Scholarship Fund. CHS PTA
Scholarships are presented to several seniors each May at the Senior Awards
Ceremony, and this voluntary donation helps fund those recognitions. (Look
for info in early spring about how your senior child can apply to be a
scholarship recipient.) Thank you to Mary Lionetti for organizing our CHS

Our CHS Spirit
Wear Clothing Sale: We have a terrific line of black and gold
“Commack” and “CHS” attire that we think everyone will like, from fitted
T-shirts to flannel plaid pants, basic short/long sleeve t-shirts, shorts,
and two kinds of sweatshirts. Check it out. The deadline for orders is
September 28th. Be sure not to miss the deadline since we need to place
orders with the vendor soon after that date. Thank you to Risa Sidrane for

PTA Meeting Schedule: Our PTA
meeting schedule is published below. (Thanks to Brenda Lentsch for keeping
our Website easy to read and up to date.) Meetings will begin promptly at
7:30 p.m. in the CHS Art Gallery (unless we let you know otherwise), and we
promise to be brief and productive, with lots of information to share. We
will be sending the agenda and meeting minutes by email ahead of time.
Please read them before each meeting since some of your questions might
already be answered in the meeting minutes.
Looking forward to seeing you throughout the year at our monthly meetings.
