Guild of International Baccalaureate Schools

The Guild of International Baccalaureate Schools of the Northeast (GIBS) is a sub-regional group of International Baccalaureate North America representing schools in New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania. Our mission is to promote and develop the International Baccalaureate Program in our region of the U.S. The primary goal is the sharing of expertise through routine contact by member schools.

Teacher Roundtables occur throughout the academic year in all major subject areas.   At these meetings, GIBS teachers  share strategies for success in their subjects. In this way the curriculum of the IB Diploma Program can be enriched, so that students in the member schools are presented with the best possible pedagogy.

GIBS recognizes the unique and important global context of the IB curriculum and is striving, through student-led initiatives, to emphasize the importance of interschool contact in the U.S. and worldwide. It is an important goal of this organization to establish interschool events which expose students to cross-cultural ideas, and to seek joint ventures that offer service to the greater community.

With the tremendous interest in the IB Program in the United  States, GIBS seeks to help IB North America in its function of disseminating information about its educational programs to prospective schools, colleges, and State Education Departments in the northeastern United States.
