Photos from GIBS Meetings

GIBS is committed to providing opportunities for contact between member schools and outreach services to the broader educational community.

Prospective Schools Meetings are held in the Fall and Spring to provide interested schools an opportunity to meet with member schools to discuss issues involving IB Implementation.  The format of the meeting is designed to answer both general and specific questions prospective schools have.   This Fall's Prospective School Meeting will have sessions on the Primary Years and Middle Years Programs in addition to the main focus of the IB Diploma Program.   Schools should be aware that the IBNA runs detailed Introductory Programs for teachers and administrators.  Our meetings can help you decide whether you want to go to the next step, and can provide a brief overview of the program, but cannot replace the training provided by IBNA for starting a program.

Teacher Roundtables are held on a regular basis during the school year to allow experienced IB Teachers to discuss issues of common concern with others teaching  in the same IB subject.  Meetings are rotated among the member schools and are open only to IB member schools.
Student events allow students from the different IB Schools to meet and talk.  A student ToK Day, cooperative CAS activities, and an IB College Fair are being planned for 2000-2001.
Seminars for College and Univesities to help admissions officers and academicians gain a detailed understanding of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program is an area that GIBS has become involved in with the help of IBNA.    Colleges looking for more information about the IB should contact Paul Campbell at the IBNA office, 212-696-4464.
