COMMACK HIGH SCHOOL AWARDED GOLD MEDAL AND NAMED TO 2012 BEST 100 HIGH SCHOOLS IN THE NATION click: http://www.usnews.com/education/best-high-schools/national-rankings/page+4 It was announced on May 7, that Commack High School is ranked as one of the Best 100 Schools in the United States by U.S. News & World Report. In addition, Commack received a Gold Medal ranking and is ranked 18th in New York State, and first in Suffolk County! According to US News & World Report, "We evaluated nearly 22,000 public high schools in 49 states and the District of Columbia. Schools were awarded gold, silver, or bronze medals based on state proficiency standards, how well they prepare students for college, and other factors." The three steps included determining if students at each school were performing higher than students in the rest of the state, looking at math and reading scores and proficiency rates, and using Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate test data to determine college-readiness performance.
Superintendent of
Schools, Dr. Donald James, was
ecstatic with the results. He
said, "It is an amazing honor
for Commack High School to
be named one of the Best 100
High Schools in the
nation, an honor bestowed upon
the entire community. Key
players in this accomplishment
include students, teachers,
administrators, staff, the Board
of Education, parents, and
residents - all of whom had a
hand in attaining this
significant
recognition. Clearly, Commack is
meeting and exceeding all
standards and preparing students
for success after high school.
Congratulations are in order for
the entire community! Again,
thank you to everyone who played
a role in this accomplishment.
It is a proud day in Commack!" |
