Commack Schools Recognized as
"High Performing/Gap Closing District"

May 16, 2008

The Superintendent of Schools has been advised by the New York State Department of Education that Commack School District, along with all of our eligible schools--Commack High School, Commack Middle School, Burr Intermediate School and Mandracchia/Sawmill Intermediate School--have been recognized as high performing/gap closing schools for the 2005-06 and 2006-07 school years based on New York State testing. In particular the citation is for the high levels of achievement of the entire student population, as well as for sub-categories of students who, nationally, have not been as successful.  Commack takes pride in the fact that all of our students are succeeding. The foundation for our success begins in our primary schools, and continues through the grades that are tested for state and national accountability purposes.
