CONSTRUCTION UPDATE - Spring 2004
Take a tour

Taking shape! Work progresses on the new gymnasium at the middle school in March.

Moving right along, the new gymnasium in May.

Spring has finally arrived, and with it, there is great progress on all the new building and construction in the district.  Check back here after Memorial Day for an updated look at the progress.
At Wood Park Primary School, the eastern wing  (6 classrooms) of the two wing addition is anticipated to be complete by July of this year.  The construction of the western wing (4 classrooms) will begin after the eastern wing is completed and the portables will also be taken down at that time.  Anticipated completion for the west wing is in the spring of 2005.

At Burr Intermediate School, foundations and sanitary systems are complete, the shell is completed, and  masonry work has begun on the cafeteria addition.  The new  parking lot is already in use. Burr's twelve classroom addition as well as the new gymnasium will be completed by the end of the school year and will be ready for occupancy in the fall.  Interior work will take place during the summer months.
Mandracchia Sawmill Intermediate School's six room addition’s, steel structure has been erected, and the work has been progressing on the utilities and sanitary systems. Completion of the new wing is anticipated at the beginning of the summer, and will be ready for fall occupancy.
At the middle school, foundations are in, steel should be going up shortly, with anticipated completion of the technology/music/home & careers wing (photo, right) and gymnasium (on left) by the middle of the next school year.
At the high school, the first phase of the sanitary and site work has been completed. The
foundations for the new addition will be poured during the month of March.  A new parking area west of the track is graded and will be completed by the summer. Work on the stairwells will begin over the summer. "Working on this expansion project has been very exciting," Kevin Carpenter, Commack's Operation of Facilities Administrator said, "and when it's completed, it will bring a great improvement to the facilities."

Architect Roger Smith shows artist's renderings of the finished high school addition and new parking area at a recent Board of Education meeting. Possible color selections for the new interior spaces (walls, flooring and carpeting) were also displayed.
