High School Assistant Principal Appointed

Andrea AllenWe are happy to announce that Andrea Allen was appointed as the new Assistant Principal at Commack High School, filling the position left vacant when Michael Larson was appointed as the principal at Commack Middle School.  Andrea was previously the Coordinator of Student Affairs and Attendance at Commack High School, and has taught in our District for twenty years.

Andrea received both her Bachelor and Master degrees in science from Hofstra University. In Commack, she taught health education and served as the Dean of Discipline in the Middle School until 2016. After earning her School Building and School District Leadership Certification, she moved to the High School and her duties there included all facets of student attendance, discipline, and safety.

“Social media has brought with it a host of new challenges for our students,” said Superintendent of Commack Schools, Dr. Donald James.” Ms. Allen’s experience as a dean has helped and will continue to help us to guide our students and their families as we navigate these new waters. As an assistant principal, I am extremely confident that Ms. Allen will continue to be a critical part of the administrative team at Commack High School."

Andrea enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, and loves to dance. She was one of the “Dancing with the Teachers” performers this year, to everyone’s delight. She said, “As I begin my twentieth year in the Commack School District, I am beyond grateful for the opportunity to serve the Commack community in this new capacity. I could not be more excited to grow as an integral part of the administrative team. I am looking forward to continuing to develop positive relationships and opportunities that let all of our students and staff thrive as contributing members of our community, allowing them to grow and extract their personal strengths to reach their goals.”
