Girls Varsity Golf - League 1 Co-Champs
The Girls Varsity Golf Team finished their regular season with a 13-1 record (new record for most wins in a season) and as the League 1 - Co-Champions with Smithtown West (First League Championship in team history). We qualified to compete in the Suffolk County Girls Golf Championships as a team for the 5th year in a row and finished in Second Place (First time in team history) behind defending champions Sayville and ahead of perennial golf powerhouses Smithtown West & Smithtown East. Additionally, Stephanie Miller and Ava Zimmerman finished 6th and 7th in the Counties and qualified to make the All-County Team representing Suffolk County in the New York State Girls Golf Championships June 3rd & 4th at Bethpage State Park (yellow course). This is the First Time in team history that we had two players qualify for the All-County Team.
The following players represented Commack in the Suffolk County Girls Golf Championships :
Finishing in 6th place - Ava Zimmerman - All-County, All-League
7th place - Stephanie Miller - All-County, All-League
15th place - Emily Shin - All-League
29th place - Emma Mangels
31st place - Elana Kudysch
39th place - Erin O'Toole
Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Golf Team for defeating Smithtown East in their final match of the season. Ava Zimmerman (41) and Stephanie Miller (43) led all scorers. The team finished with a 13 and 1 record (setting a new team record for the most victories and fewest losses in a season). The team also won their very first League Championship, tying Smithtown West as League I Co-Champs with identical records (13-1). The following 6 golfers will compete in the Suffolk County Girls Golf Championships next week: Ava Zimmerman, Stephanie Miller, Emily Shin, Elana Kudysch, Emma Mangels and Erin O'Toole.
