Meeting was called to order at 8:15pm. President Teri Williams presiding.
The pledge was said.
Minutes: Minutes were reviewed, one spelling correction: in the Budget Report it should read Jill Mihnovich.
Treasurer’s Report:
General Fund: Share Draft Checking - $12.636.57 Money Market - $35,166.28
Scholarship: Share Draft Checking $13,598.31 Money Market - $17,803.58

Superintendent:
Dr. Feltman: ELA exam reports were printed and mailed. Math exam results will be available to administration June 21 and will be mailed the week of June 24. Mr. Stewart and Mr. Thode both have new baby daughters.
Mr. Weiss: Discussed “exam myths”. Awards ceremonies are ongoing. The 8th grade S.S. exam was given today. The High School newspaper was named “High School Paper of the Year” by the L.I. Press. We are revising the science research program.
Committee Reports:
Arts in Ed: Cathy Russell is retiring, she has been chairperson for the past 12 years. Stephanie Polo is taking over her position.
Budget: Thank you to Paulette Mancuso for all your hard work. Thank you to Brenda Lentsch for putting up and taking down the budget signs.
Disabilities Awareness: With money donated from PTA Council we were able to bring in a number of programs for the schools.
Environment: A model letter was read from a H.H.H. resident to NYS Dept. of Transportation re: the Intermodal facility.
Included in the Suffolk County’s proposed budget is 7.5 million to fund three separate road projects. 1) An interim roadway thru Pilgrim State. 2) Dept. of Transportation is working on the Intermodal Freight Facility alongside the Sagtikos Corridor. 3) For improvements to Commack Rd. at the LIE.
Founders Day: We are getting numbers for next year from the Hyatt and the Marriot.
Hospitality: Thank you to Lisa Minerva and Judy Murphy for everything you did this past year.
Nutrition: The brown and white rice mix is going well. A vote will be brought to each unit re: a la carte snacks and beverages. French fries are not on the menu at the middle school on Fridays.
Photography: Working on a contract with Marty Hyman.
Publicity: A motion was made by Brenda Lentsch to spend not more than $175 for two plywood backed budget signs, seconded by Jill Mihnovich. Motion was discussed, put to a vote and passed unanimously.
Scholarship: We gave out 11 scholarships this year. Oct 13 is Macy’s shop for a cause – you will get 20% off your purchase and $5.00 per purchase will go to the Council Scholarship fund.
School Board: Presented a plaque to Joseph Barberia for educating our children in fire and home safety. Certificates of Merit were given to CMS regional science quiz bowl winners. Plaques were given to the 2007 National Hip Hop Champions. Presented plaques to two coaches for 10 years of service.
SEPTA: Giving out 3 scholarships this year, $1,500 each, and they will be presented on Friday. Commackopoly is going well, all spaces are filled, we do have a few patron ads still available. We will be selling more than 1,000 boards, art work on the box will be from the high school art dept. Teri wanted to mention that any schools that have a spot on the board had a separate fundraiser for that purpose. PTA funds were not used.
Website: Need updated Executive Committee lists for schools. You can update your Emergency Contact Information through the website: print out and mail it in. There is availability for more students on our Pre-K program. New wellness page is on the site.
Presidents Report:
· Any left over membership cards should have been mailed back.
· New officer training is June 7.
· Suffolk by the Sea is July 14.
· Presidents, Form A is due June 15, if they don’t have the updated form you will have a problem with your August mailings.
· Please fill out the committee form up front if you are staying on, leaving, or changing committees.
· Suffolk Wave hand outs are up front re: free downloads with your library card.
· Hand out up front re: IRS electronic filing. Please read it as the IRS is paying more attention to PTA’s.
· Try to attend the Fall PTA Workshops.
· Photography proceeds will be voted on in Sept. after the executive committee meets to discuss the proposed disbursement.
· Next Meeting is Sept 5, the first day of school.
New Business:
Dr. Feltman installed the officers for the 2007 – 2008 PTA Executive Committee.
