  At the Math Center:

• Students work with manipulatives that reinforce concepts such as patterning, sorting and classifying and shapes.
• Students have the opportunity to use both problem solving and critical-thinking skills. 
• Students work cooperatively and learn from each other.

Listening Center

This center helps to:

• reinforce the concept of one-to-one correspondence.

• give children the understanding that text carries meaning

• develop a love for reading, and the desire to become independent readers.

Housekeeping Center

• The Housekeeping Center encourages understanding of self, family, home and community from a social perspective.

• When playing in this center, the children begin to develop an understanding and respect for individual choices and preferences.

• Students display an awareness of the importance of sharing and cooperation at school, and at home.

Penmanship Center

• Using various mediums (shaving cream, sand, water) students will practice handwriting.

• This center helps to strengthen fine motor skills.

Writing Center

Writing center is a wonderful way to:

• foster cooperative learning.

• develop fine motor skills through writing and drawing.

• strengthen pre-writing skills.

• enhance social skills, through the communication of stories and sharing observations.

• develop a love and enthusiasm for communicating through print.
