In Reading, most kindergarten children:
recognize capitals,
interpret pictures and
texts,

read wordless and predictable books,
read environmental print (signs, labels),
participate in the writing/reading of experience stories.
In Writing, most kindergarten children:
share thoughts, feelings, information and experiences by using drawings, and dictated stories,
recognize the
relationship of words to objects/pictures,

In Listening and Speaking, most kindergarten children learn to:
listen to and appreciate the beauty of literature and the rhythm of language,
listen to and recite rhymes and poetry,
recognize rhyming patterns in language,
develop an appreciation of sensory imagery in literature,
retell a story/events in sequential order,
express ideas in sharing time and discussion,
give and follow directions,
develop proper audience
behavior, 
develop a love for reading and an appreciation of the beauty of literature.
