This handbook details the many PTA committees based at Wood Park Primary School and contains a brief overview of how each one functions.  Some committees are run every year and others not.  Most committees fall one of two categories; service or fundraiser.  A service committee is one that the PTA provides as a service to benefit the children of Wood Park.  It either costs money or breaks even.  A fundraiser committee is one that raises money so that we can run service committees that cost money and pay for educational programs.

The PTA sends out a listing of committees asking for anyone’s interest in a chairperson position for the upcoming school year.  We ask that each chairperson keep notes on contacts, procedures, flyers, etc., to be handed on to incoming chairpeople to facilitate their transition and make chairing the committee as pleasurable and successful as possible.  Each chairperson reports their committee’s progress at PTA meetings as the programs they host evolve.  A budget for each committee is announced in September so that chairpeople may guide themselves appropriately when money is needed to be spent.  Receipts and reimbursement forms must be submitted to the Treasurer for reimbursements. It is mandatory that all committee chairpeople be current members of the Wood Park Primary School PTA for that school year.

Remember this handbook is only a guide.  As chairperson, you may develop the committee as you see fit, in the best interest of all students attending Wood Park, after reporting ideas to the Executive Committee, the principal, and at PTA meetings.

Please know that all funds raised by the Wood Park PTA go directly to benefit our children at Wood Park Primary School.  Without volunteers, these programs cannot be provided.  We hope this handbook sparks your spirit of volunteerism and we look forward to seeing you throughout the school year.

THANK YOU !
