I am an Art Teacher and Artist. My artwork is mostly ceramic. I also explore other mediums as well.
At Commack High School I teach a variety of art electives: ceramics, sculpture, drawing, painting, digital photography and studio art. As an extension of the school day, I am the advisor of Art Club.
In the art classes I teach, my goal is to foster a comfortable environment where my students gain skills and techniques to express themselves visually.
Art was the first means of human communication. It is a universal language that connects us to the rest of the world, ourselves, the past and the future.
Everywhere we look, we see things that were made by an artist. From the car we drive, the chair we sit in, the clothes we wear, and the graphics on our text book.
Art students learn in art class that art is not just about the final product but rather about the process. They learn about themselves, to problem solve, to be observant in the world around them and to live in the moment.
