Library News & Information

Dear Commack Community,

My name is Kim Bronzino and I have been a Library Teacher in the Commack School District since 2001. During my tenure, I have worked at North Ridge, Sawmill, Rolling Hills and Wood Park.   It is my joy to share the love of acquiring knowledge and literacy with the children of Commack.  This school year, I will be spending my time with the children of  Rolling Hills and Wood Park.

Library Class meets once per week for forty minutes.  It is one of the four 'specials.'  I teach a thirty-minute literature, critical thinking, information literacy, database or introduction to research skills lesson.  The last ten minutes are dedicated to book shopping and check out.

Becoming a reader is an amazing journey! During our time together in the library, I nurture and foster this journey with quality literature.  We talk about the responsibility involved with borrowing and learn how to take good care of our books.  Each child takes great care in choosing a "just right book" and is eager to share his or her book with you.  Please take a few minutes to be excited about their selection and facilitate the reading of that book each week.  Please try to return library books to backpacks after you read them.  This seems to be the safest place and it insures that the book will be ready to be returned when it is due back on library day.

Books are due back each week and may be renewed if extra time is needed.  You may receive a reminder not if a book is not returned on time.  We do not charge late fees.  If a book is lost or destroyed the district policy is for the family to cover the cost to replace the book.  (This is my least favorite part of my job.)

I look forward to another amazing year of celebrating the joys of reading with your child(ren).  I try to honor special book requests.  Since I am a traveling librarian, email is the best way to reach me[email protected]

Sincerely,

Kim Bronzino
