CHS Students Recognized at Science and Engineering Fair

Mehek Sawhney earned first-place honors and three other CHS students also received grand honors at the New York State Science and Engineering Fair at the New York Hall of Science in Queens.

NYSSEF is the most competitive science fair in New York, drawing projects from throughout the state.

Sawhney as well as fellow CHS students Kevin Ma (second place), Shivani Muthukumar (third place) and Aaron Mathew (honorable mention) competed in the in-person Round 2 competition. They were honored with prizes in the Grand Award category for the work they completed during the past year.

Round 2 includes the top 40 percent of projects from students who competed at regional fairs across the state via video.

All of the Commack students gained valuable experience from their interaction with in-person judges and will take this knowledge to the fairs at which they — and other Commack research students — will compete later in the schoolyear.
