Social Media Posting Investigated
Dear Commack Families,

We want you to know that late last night, Commack Security was informed of a threat posted on social media regarding Commack Middle School. The Suffolk County Police were called and immediately investigated, speaking personally with the student involved. The Suffolk County Police determined that the threat was not credible.

We ask all families to discuss with your children the seriousness of allegations such as these and the repercussions of posting information on social media. Threats to our schools carry harsh consequences, and we will prosecute to the fullest extent of the law.

As always, our primary concern is the safety of our students and staff. We will continue to work with the local authorities and our Commack Security team to thoroughly and immediately investigate reports such as these.

Out of an abundance of caution and so our students feel safe on campus, there will be a police presence at all of our schools. To repeat, the social media posting was determined not credible by the Suffolk County Police.

Thank you to the police and security for working through the night to investigate and keep our students and staff safe.

Sincerely,

Dr. Jordan F. Cox
Superintendent, Commack Schools
