The Board of Education is pleased to announce that Timothy J. Russo was named the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment in the Commack School District. Mr. Russo will begin on July 1, 2022, filling the position vacated by Dr. Jordan Cox, who will be Commack’s new Superintendent of Schools.

Mr. Russo is currently the principal at Harborfields High School, where he is the instructional leader responsible for the coordination of curriculum, staff observations, and supervision of all departments. He works extensively with various committees, and has deep insight into all matters concerning social and emotional learning, diversity, equity and inclusion, counseling, strategic planning, and the NYS Seal of Biliteracy, to mention just a few. A graduate of Marist College, with a Masters from Dowling and advanced certification from Long Island University, Mr. Russo has taught social studies and also served as an assistant principal during the last 20 years.

“Mr. Russo has all the qualifications and experience necessary to guide our educational staff to continue our goals of preparing every child for their future,” stated David Flatley, Interim Superintendent for Commack Schools. “He will complement our leadership team with his passion and experience. We look forward to his coming aboard!”
