Burr Fourth Graders Say Thank You during Northport VA Visit

Emily Walther’s fourth graders showed respect for those who have served during a visit to the Northport VA Medical Center campus on Friday.
The students distributed thank-you cards to veterans that they and fellow Burr students had designed. They also laid flowers at monuments to those who served in wars from the American Revolution to the present.
Joe Sledge, who has worked for the Northport VA Medical Center for more than three decades, after four years of peacetime military service as a Morse code intercept operator, led the tour throughout the grounds. Sledge is Walther’s father.
Principal Dan Ciccone joined the students on the tour as they also met with various medical center administrators and heard about the important function that the facility serves.
