  Searching for Sweetbriar Sam – a Groundhog Adventure
Come find out if Sweetbriar Sam is planning to hibernate for another 6 weeks or predict an early spring.  Sweetbriar Sam was a wild ground hog so we have no idea if he will come out or not.  We will have other animal hibernators and animals with different solutions for the cold weather to share with guests.  Along with that we will have a fun scavenger hunt to learn some facts about groundhogs, play with shadows, and  will help youngsters make a fun groundhog craft to take home.

  Falling In Love With Wildlife
Join Sweetbriar staff and volunteers for an afternoon of close encounters with wildlife.   Meet some of Sweetbriar’s cute and loveable animals, play an animal matching game in honor  of Valentine’s Day,  and create a craft to remember the day.   There will be many photo opportunities.

  Winter Discovery Days for ages 5 to 11
Once again Sweetbriar Nature Center will be offering daily natural science programs over the school breaks elementary school children..   Each day will be a different natural science theme.  Each day is chock-filled with fun hands-on activities, interaction with our residents, non-releasable wildlife, crafts, games, and much more.   Parents can register their child/children for one day, two days, three days, four days, or the entire week.   Themes from Monday to Friday are Sonic the Hedgehog (And other incredible animals),   Dr. Doolittle’s Adventure, Land Of the Snowy Owl and Treasures Of the Tropical Rain Forest and Hidden Signs of Winter 
February 17 – 21, 9am to 3pm daily, after care available until 5pm for an additional charge
$75/day, $325/week for members, $85/day, $375/week for non-members

Sweetbriar Summer Program Open House for children ages 3-17
Sweetbriar will offer children and parents an opportunity to tour the facility including visiting our rain forest room and woodland exhibits, learning more about our summer programs , and meeting some of our resident animals.  The Program Director will be available to answer any questions. Refreshments will be available.

Visit Sweetbriar to meet some nocturnal animals and embark on a walk into the darkness to enjoy the night and maybe call in an owl or two.  Dress warmly and bring a flashlight just in case.

  Ssssensational Ssssnakes
Slither on over to Sweetbriar to see a selection of several ssssensational serpents.  Participants will meet several snakes and learn about their unique adaptation through games and other participatory activities. Create a cool snake craft to take home.
