Kindergarten students will enjoy many opportunities to explore and
enjoy literature. The goal for our library kindergarten program is
to ensure that students:

Learn how to care for library materials and share with others.

Develop awareness of the parts of a book.

Become familiar with a variety of authors and illustrators.

Discover and participate in various
ways to enjoy stories; including books, digital media, felt boards and more.

Discover their creativity by exploring makerspaces.

Develop awareness of what it means to be a lifelong learner.
First
graders will have the opportunity to strengthen their reading and listening
skills. The goal of our first-grade library program is to ensure
that students:

Develop awareness of the parts of a book.

Learn how to explore the library and locate materials.

Learn the difference between fiction and nonfiction.

Become familiar with a variety of authors and illustrators.

Discover and participate in various ways to enjoy stories;
including books, digital media, puppets and more.

Engage in makerspace activities.

Learn to become independent readers.
Second
graders will sharpen their reading and critical thinking skills. The
goal of our second-grade library curriculum is to ensure that students:

Continue to love books and reading.

Understand how to locate materials in the library.

Sharpen their awareness of various genres.

Participate in story time discussions.

Explore nonfiction text features.

Engage in makerspace activities.

Begin to formulate, record and share opinions.

Everyone
is invited to participate in our Birthday Book donation program where parents
can donate a book to the library in recognition of their child's birthday.
