Christine Dennis Voted Commack Educator of Year

And the winner is … Christine Dennis.
Dennis was revealed as Commack Schools’ Educator of the Year during Thursday’s Board of Education meeting.
She was voted on by administrators and teachers on the Educator of the Year committee from among the four level winners:
• Christine Dennis, primary schools
• Jeanette LaMountain, intermediate school
• Drew Yeager, CMS
• Kimberly Cisek, CHS
A Commack Star award winner in March, Dennis stepped into the library media specialist role at North Ridge and Burr three years ago. More accurately, she dove into the role.
Among Dennis’ contributions, she was the primary innovator of the Discovery Den, which was launched at North Ridge this school year and is soon headed to all primary schools.
“Christine is a true innovator, finding new and exciting ways to engage students with literature and technology, while connecting to their personal interests,” superintendent Dr. Jordan Cox said. “Her creativity and dedication make our buildings a hub of learning and discovery. She goes above and beyond to connect students with resources, foster a love of learning and create a welcoming environment.
“Her innovative lessons and unwavering support make her an exceptional library specialist.”
