CMS Recognizes Eighth Graders for John Newman Scholarships

CMS had a special presentation Tuesday morning to recognize eighth graders Sean O. and Tommy S. with John Newman Scholarships.
The students received the awards in recognition of their good character and fair play in CYO.
John Newman was a lifetime Commack resident. He was a St. Anthony’s High School Hall of Fame inductee who coached baseball and basketball for 35 years. He also coordinated the Christ the King CYO Program for more than 10 years.
To honor his legacy, the Christ the King Parish offers scholarships to eighth grade middle-school boys and girls who participated in their CYO program.
Donna Newman was on hand Tuesday at CMS to present the awards.
