Suffolk County Police Department K9 Unit Visits Students at Cedar Road

Suffolk County police officers Mark Sacco and Ralph Dimasi and their partners Jax and Valor visited students in the extended school year program at Cedar Road on Thursday.
Officer Sacco explained that most K9 partners are German Shepherds born in Europe, including in Hungary.
Jax and Valor each underwent roughly six months of training, which included learning obedience as well as navigating obstacles. The K9s also may learn to locate a particular scent.
The students also had an opportunity to ask questions of the officers.
