The Commack School District's Learning and Development Academy revved up on Friday as new staff gathered for "welcome day."

Superintendent Dr. Jordan Cox welcomed the district's newest educators and support staff with a story about how teachers have an awesome responsibility and meaningfully impact the lives of students and their families.

Friday marks the first of many professional growth and learning opportunities for the district's newest employees.

After the weekend, they will take a bus tour of the district to get further acquainted with Commack and its schools.

The program was developed and is spearheaded by curriculum associate Dr. Jennifer Santorello.
