Carol Barbagallo Awarded First Commack Star of 2025-26 School Year

Inside the CMS auditorium on Wednesday morning, superintendent Dr. Jordan Cox asked all of the district’s new staff members to stand and be recognized.
Shortly afterward, Dr. Cox saluted a veteran colleague whose contributions to the district are worthy of emulating.
With nearly all of the district’s staff on hand to begin a conference day, Dr. Cox presented CHS math teacher Carol Barbagallo with the first Commack Star Award of the 2025-26 school year.
The Commack Star Award, first presented two years ago, recognizes district employees who demonstrate exemplary achievement, contribution and performance in their roles.
In addition to serving as the math department lead at the high school, Barbagallo also advises the math honor society.
“Carol goes above and beyond every day — not just in teaching mathematics, but in inspiring a love of learning in all of her students,” Dr. Cox told the staff as Barbagallo stood with him at the front of the auditorium. “Her dedication, innovative approach and unwavering commitment to student success makes her a true star in our school community.
“Carol’s consistently strong work ethic and numerous contributions are vital to her department’s collective success. She is always willing to listen and lend a hand. And it always comes from a place of love, which makes the staff feel like they belong.”
