Wood Park Second Graders Perform Experiment that Pops

Science experiments definitely become more fun when bubbles enter the picture.
During a Lunch and Learn session on Monday at Wood Park, second graders used pipe cleaners to create assorted shapes, including hearts.
Using a specially mixed formula, the students dipped their pipe cleaners in the soapy solution. They then proceeded to test the hypothesis that the bubbles would be formed in the shapes they designed with the pipe cleaners.
Alas, the bubbles ended up pretty much being round.
Lunch and Learn is a hands-on STEAM program launching at all the district's primary schools. It's kicking off this week at Wood Park.
Designed for first- and second-grade students, the program combines creative, curriculum-based projects with collaboration and critical thinking. Students explore STEAM concepts through engaging, hands-on activities that encourage curiosity, problem-solving and teamwork.
