Wood Park First Graders Get Safety Tips from Commack Firefighters

Wood Park first graders learned about fire safety during a visit from the Commack Fire Department on Wednesday.
The students learned about making a family fire plan, including having a meeting place outside of the home. And, in the event of a fire, they were told to get outside and never hide. They also were instructed to never return to a burning building for belongings or pets.
The first graders practiced crawling out of a building.
They also were cautioned to avoid matches.
The visit culminated with the students receiving replica fire helmets.
