CHS IB Theatre and IB Dance students traveled to Adelphi on Friday to receive instruction led by the university's personnel.

The event, entitled "A Day with the Arts: Dance, Music and Theatre," featured participatory workshops that enhanced what the students are learning at CHS.

Among the sessions in which the students participated was "stage combat," during which they learned to have convincing fight scenes in theatrical productions while not injuring fellow actors, such as with faux slaps and hair-pulling.

Another workshop involved styles of dance used in television commercials. Meanwhile, other students participated in "fun with ukuleles," mask making and decorating, and song coaching.
