Dr. Cox, Commack Fire Department Commissioner Visit Sawmill to Share Safety Tips

Sawmill third graders welcomed Commack Fire Department commissioner Tom McFadzen as well as superintendent Dr. Jordan Cox and principal Michelle Tancredi-Zott on Tuesday for some important fire-safety tips.
McFadzen has been with the volunteer fire department for 53 years.
An extra special part of Tuesday's visit to Sawmill was McFadzen working with the third-grade class taught by his daughter, Kellie McFadzen.
Dr. Cox, meanwhile, watched a safety video with the students and helped them during a mock fire drill during which the third graders crawled to safety and ensured all of their classmates were accounted for.
McFadzen also invited the students and their families to an open house at the main fire department on Jericho Tpke on Sunday, Sept. 26 at 9 a.m. Firefighters will demonstrate how they cut open a car, provide tours of the firehouse and even have a bouncy house.
