Food for Thought: Sawmill Traces the Origins of Produce
Following the recent interactive science lesson with third-grade classes at Burr, students at Sawmill also had the opportunity to participate in this hands-on learning experience with Ryan McGrath.
Students examined various plant seeds, discussed the origins of their everyday food, and reviewed the stages of the plant life cycle. Just like their peers at Burr, Sawmill students collected the seeds they studied. These will be sent to Commack High School, where they will be planted and monitored alongside commercial seed packets as part of an ongoing, cross-campus agricultural program.
