Lisa Sorgie Presented With Commack STAR Award

Superintendent Dr. Jordan Cox presented the Commack STAR Award to kindergarten teacher Lisa Sorgie Wednesday afternoon during the Commack Champion celebration at Rolling Hills. The award is given to staff members who exhibit outstanding commitment and leadership qualities.
“It is a true privilege to stand before you today to present our Commack Star Award,” Dr. Cox said. “This recognition was created to honor those staff who consistently go above and beyond for students, colleagues and the community.”
Dr. Cox described Sorgie as a cornerstone of the kindergarten team who acts as an unofficial mentor offering wisdom and guidance to colleagues. He noted her ability to share her expertise while remaining a reflective educator makes her a knowledgeable leader among her peers.
“She has a go for it attitude and always puts 100 percent into everything she does,” Dr. Cox said.
A colleague stated that Sorgie consistently takes time out of her day to help in any way she can and is always willing to share her expertise. In her classroom, Sorgie cultivates a positive culture that encourages the youngest learners to be inquirers and thinkers from their first days of school.
“As a gifted communicator, she fosters a nurturing environment where students can thrive,” Cox said.
Thank you to Lisa Sorgie for your principled leadership and the heart you pour into Rolling Hills every single day!
