Legislative Advocacy Committee Student Visit Town of Huntington

CHS students on the Legislative Advocacy Committee visited the Town of Huntington Wednesday morning to speak with elected officials. Joined by LAC chairpeople Eric Biagi and Dr. Jennifer Santorello, as well as Dr. Cox and other district administrators, the students had the opportunity to advocate for various issues to Councilman Dr. Dave Bennardo and Councilwoman Brooke A. Lupinacci, who provided them with feedback, potential solutions and next steps. The group was also visited by town supervisor Ed Smyth who thanked the group for their hard work.
Topics such as digital wellness, blue ribbon and school funding, community infrastructure, educator recruitment and retention, and AI literacy were addressed.
Commack students in Legislative Advocacy Committee annually meet with state and local government officials to advocate for their school and community’s interests.
