CMS Students Compete In Building-Wide Reading March Madness Competition

Commack Middle School recently wrapped up an exciting “Reading March Madness” competition, where students competed in a 16-bracket, tournament-style reading challenge. Classes advanced through each round based on their reading progress, promoting literacy in a fun and engaging way across grade levels.
This year’s champions were Mrs. Boyce’s sixth-grade( 6/7th period ELA class), who rose to the top while competing against sixth, seventh, and eighth grade English classes. Ms. Pollina’s English class came in a very close second place.
The champions celebrated with a trophy, student certificates and enjoyed a well-earned celebration, generously hosted by reading teachers & contest coordinators Stefanie Fields and Kerry Vitola, but the real win was the strong reading habits built throughout the month.
Congratulations to all participants for making reading a true championship event!
