Commack Students Awarded At Long Island Math Fair

Commack was proud to have all 13 students who attended the Long Island Math Fair on Friday, April 24th at Hofstra University earn medals for their research presentations. Together we earned 5 Gold Medals, 6 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals. With over 800 students participating from across Long Island, this is an outstanding accomplishment. Thank you to all the math teachers who assisted students with their research and a special thank you to the teachers who chaperoned the math fair, Mrs. Barbagallo, Mr. Pope and Mr. Varughese.
Student research topics included Chaos and Randomness in Nature, Math in Voting, SFDiff: An Accurate, Generalizable Diffusion Denoising Probabilistic Model (DDPM) for State Forecasting of Nonlinear Systems, Can Candlesticks be used to help predict the stock market?, Improving & Integrating Mathematical & Musical Education Will Increase Students’ Cognitive Activity, Exploring the Goldbach Conjecture and Modelling a real runtime function for sorting algorithms as a transformation of the time complexity function based on CPUs.
